Each year, more than 20,000 cinema enthusiasts come together as part of the festival. Through events organized throughout the year, the festival supports short film production and also provides assistance for the international distribution and circulation of films. Every year, it brings an average of 300 short films to audiences through screenings held in six venues in central Izmir as well as at universities. With talks, workshops, and numerous events, it contributes to the development of especially the younger generation who aspire to pursue cinema professionally. It is Türkiye’s first and only Academy Award®-qualifying festival.

Izmir Film Lab

Izmir Film Lab, the project development platform of the International Izmir Short Film Festival, offers filmmakers the opportunity to present their short film projects while participating in a range of training programs. Focusing on key stages such as funding and pitching, the Lab provides one-on-one sessions with industry professionals. The program also includes a competitive section, where various awards and cash prizes are granted to selected projects.
