Every year, more than 20,000 film enthusiasts come together as part of the festival. Through events held throughout the year, the festival supports short film production as well as the international distribution and circulation of films. Each year, around 300 short films are presented to audiences at six venues in central Izmir and at universities. Through talks, workshops and many other events, the festival contributes to the development of young people who aspire to pursue a professional career in cinema. It is Türkiye’s first and only Academy Award® Qualifying Festival.
