FINALISTS ANNOUNCED FOR THE 26TH IZMIR INTERNATIONAL SHORT FILM FESTIVAL
The films competing for the Golden Cat Awards at the 26th Izmir International Short Film Festival, taking place from 3 to 8 November, have been announced.

More than 200 films will be screened free of charge at the Izmir International Short Film Festival, which has been held with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, General Directorate of Cinema, Karşıyaka Municipality, Konak Municipality, İZQ, Migros, the Goethe-Institut and Institut français. As an Academy Award® Qualifying Festival, the Izmir Short Film Festival is one of only 120 festivals worldwide with this status, and two films will earn the opportunity to be considered for the Academy Awards this year.
The festival received an extraordinary level of interest this year. A total of 4,000 films from 120 countries were submitted for the Golden Cat Awards in the animation, documentary, experimental and fiction categories across the national and international competitions. Each film was carefully reviewed by the festival committee. Following an extensive selection process, the films to be screened were chosen. Screenings will take place across the city at the festival’s main venues—Institut français, Karşıyaka Municipality’s Çatı Bostanlı and Karaca Cinema—as well as through youth screenings at universities.
As there were not enough submissions to open a competition in the experimental category this year, a total of 32 films were selected as finalists in the fiction, animation and documentary categories. The festival programme and jury members will be announced in the coming days. The full list of films competing for the Golden Cat Awards is as follows:
