Awards Presented at İzmir’s 26-Year Short Film Marathon
The İzmir Short Film Festival concluded with a prestigious awards ceremony held at the İzmir Architecture Center. A total of 16 awards were presented across four competitive sections. Within İzmir Film Lab, the festival’s project development platform, numerous projects also received support from leading companies in the film industry.
Organized with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the General Directorate of Cinema, the festival attracted great interest from İzmir audiences from the very first day. Nearly 10,000 film lovers experienced a different side of cinema through short film screenings held at the French Cultural Center, Çatı Bostanlı, and Karaca Cinema.
Creative Industries Took Center Stage at the Festival
This year, İzmir Film Lab hosted a series of panels in collaboration with the TOBB Creative Industries Council. The panels explored topics including Cinema and Digital Arts in the Age of Artificial Intelligence, Culture, Space and the Production Ecosystem in İzmir, People and Cities Transformed Through Creativity, and Gaming and Animation, highlighting İzmir’s growing creative potential.
The panel programme opened with speeches by Ata Kavame, President of the TOBB Creative Industries Council, and Uğur Yıldırım, President of the İzmir Architecture Center, and attracted a large audience.
Workshops and Training Sessions Attracted Great Interest Throughout the Festival
Talks, workshops, and training sessions featuring Amin Jafari, Serdar Özdemir, Selman Nacar, Gonca Vuslateri, Faruk Güven, and many other distinguished guests provided valuable experience, particularly for film students.
The İzmir Short Film Festival and İzmir Film Lab awards were presented with strong participation and interest from emerging filmmakers.
